tretinoin-tabletsTretinoin is generally used in a cream or gel form for the treatment of acne. There are other uses of this drug, especially in the oral form. Tretinoin Tablets (Vesanoid) comes from a group of drugs known as retinoids. These tablets have the ability to kill specific types of cancer cells by affecting how they reproduce and grow. Tretinoin Tablets are specifically used to treat leukemia.

Aside from treating leukemia, doctors will often use this drug to treat other types of cancers.

People who are placed on this medication are required to take it two times a day. This is usually done over a period of 30-90 days or until the cancer is in remission. The tablet can be taken with or without food.

It is important for people to understand that they should not take Tretinoin Tablets (Vesanoid) dosage more than directed. The condition will not improve faster if the dosage is increased and there is also a serious risk of side effects occurring.

Vesanoid is a very serious medication and the side effects can be severe (sometimes fatal). When taking this tablet, it is important that you do so under the direction of a doctor. Your doctor should be notified if you have symptoms such as dizziness, weight gain, persistent sore throat, chest pain or unusual fatigue.

There are some side effects that will occur when using Tretinoin Tablets (Vesanoid). This side effects are fatigue, nausea, weakness, itching, headache, dizziness and bone pain. Patients should be aware of these side effects and if they become more intense or severe, they need to immediately notify a doctor. Other side effects include weight gain, fever, chest pain, vision changes, wheezing, irregular heartbeats, urination problems and hearing trouble. Sometimes allergic reactions can occur if this should occur, a doctor should be consulted. Some symptoms of allergic reactions include dizziness, swelling, itching, rash and problem breathing.

Women who are pregnant should not use these tablets. This is the same for women who are thinking about becoming pregnant.  This drug has been shown to cause severe birth defects when used in pregnancy. Women who are taking this pull will have to have monthly pregnancy tests.
